Trip to Cairns

Last wednesday Dave and I flew to Townsville and Cairns to interview several people for Queensland Health. On Friday Jen and Reuben joined us in Cairns and we drove up to Port Douglas, a small town further north. The further we drove the less populated it got and we ended up on a small road winding its way along the shore of the turqouise water.
Being so close to the equator, the climate is absolutely tropical. With coconut-plams along the beach and crocodiles in the water. On Saturday we went on a day trip to the tropical rainforest and enjoied the beautiful nature (and the humidity...).
The next day Dave and Jen took me on a boat trip to a tiny island, to snorkel on the great Barrier Reaf. Unfortunately the visibility wasn't great because of the floodings in northern Queensland, but we were able to see several sea-turtels which was absolutely amazing. Back in Port Douglas I took the chance to experience the moon rising over the pacific ocean. On the last day of our trip we went to see the Burron Falls. massive waterfalls in the rainforest.
Enouygh writing for today....I'll try to get some shots of Kangaroos in the light of the setting sun......(back again...no Kangaroos)
